Position Summary
The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative and operational support across multiple HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, communications, events, and record retention. This role serves as a key front-line contact for employees and applicants while ensuring accurate documentation, strong customer service, and efficient HR office operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Practice, support, and maintain the Mission, Vision, and Values of WarHorse Gaming
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of HR office areas, including front counter, lobby, and kiosks
- Greet visitors, applicants, and team members in a professional and welcoming manner
- Respond to inquiries and assist with applications, onboarding steps, and assessments
- Answer phone calls and direct or resolve HR-related questions appropriately
- Escalate employee issues to HR leadership when necessary for resolution
- Maintain employee records, complete data entry, and support HR reporting and documentation
- Assist with onboarding, orientation sessions, interviews, and talent recruitment events
- Support internal communication efforts, including postings, portals, and workplace notices
- Manage team member badges, gaming license tracking, and renewals as required
- Order and maintain office supplies and HR-related materials
- Reserve training rooms and coordinate necessary equipment for HR and training events
- Assist in planning and executing employee engagement, wellness, and retention events
- Maintain confidentiality of all employee and company information
- Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
- Provide consistent, professional support to employees, applicants, and vendors
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in an HR assistant, HR coordinator, or similar administrative role
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Ability to secure and maintain a Level 3 Nebraska Gaming License
Preferred:
- Experience with HRIS systems (HCMS), ATS platforms, and LMS systems
- Experience supporting onboarding, recruiting, or employee engagement activities
- Facilitation or presentation experience
Certification Requirements
- Nebraska Gaming License (Level 3 – required and must be maintained)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Office-based role with frequent interaction with employees and applicants
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and computer use
- Occasional lifting of office supplies or event materials (up to 25 lbs)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Regular interaction with internal teams, applicants, and vendors
Schedule
- Travel is not required for this position
- Must be available to work varying schedules based on business needs of the property
