WarHorse Gaming is a gaming and entertainment division of Ho-Chunk, Inc., developed in partnership with the Nebraska Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association (HBPA). Position Summary
The Host is responsible for providing prompt, friendly guest greetings and ensuring efficient and accurate seating of all restaurant guests. This role supports the smooth flow of front-of-house operations by managing reservations, coordinating seating arrangements, and maintaining a welcoming and organized dining environment. The Host serves as the first point of contact for guests and plays a key role in shaping the overall guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides information on all aspects of available services and facilities for guests
- Greets guests and arranges seating while monitoring overall room atmosphere
- Quotes accurate wait times and manages guest waitlists or reservations according to established procedures
- Answers incoming phone calls following established phone etiquette standards
- Returns calls to guests after reviewing daily phone messages
- Reconfirms reservations prior to peak service periods
- Assists guests with reservations both in person and via phone
- Supports guests with special requests as needed
- Communicates with coworkers and supervisors to ensure quality guest service
- Maintains seating logs for the restaurant, including bar and lounge areas
- Directs the flow of work for wait staff and bussers
- Updates floor charts throughout each shift to reflect seating changes
- Cleans menus regularly during shift operations
- Maintains a clean and organized host stand
- Performs light cleaning and upkeep of the host area
- Assists wait staff with takeout orders and other service needs
- Provides prompt and friendly greetings to all guests upon arrival
- Ensures smooth front-of-house restaurant operations
- Complies with all departmental and company rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Attends required meetings and training sessions
- Maintains a neat and professional appearance at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
- Must be 19 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- Ability to operate mobile devices and touchscreen technology
- Experience using smartphones and/or tablet-based applications strongly preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to guest service excellence and ethical conduct
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout assigned shifts
- Frequent interaction with guests in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Ability to move throughout dining and host areas as needed to manage seating flow
- May require light lifting, bending, and carrying of menus or service materials
- Exposure to busy hospitality environment with varying noise levels
Schedule
- Travel is not required for this position
- Due to the unpredictable nature of the hospitality and entertainment industry, team members must be able to work varying schedules based on business needs of the property
